Polly's Pies

Okay, let me set things straight up front. These 5 red stars are for my meal alone, my scrumptious and homey meal. I cannot vouch for the other 81429 other things on their menu. I can't promise that Polly's, as a whole, is the best thing since sliced bread. Even so, my food was SO GOOD that I have to write this review.

I rolled in at 11am on a weekday and was greeted with a choice of breakfast or lunch. BREAKFAST, duh, best meal of the day. Took me a while to decide among all the egg, pancake, waffle, etc. options. I settled on the country tater breakfast.

-- GIGANTIC CINNAMON ROLL: I chose this as my pastry (included with the meal). I thought it would be, you know, fist-sized. I was wrong. The thing was the size of my face. I was intimidated and figured there was absolutely no way I would finish it. Well... I was wrong again. It was perfectly warmed and was so light and fluffy - not sickeningly sweet - that I ate the whole damn thing. Sigh. There goes my diet.
-- COUNTRY TATERS: I have to admit that I was initially jealous of my fiance's chicken-fried steak and eggs, but as soon as I took one bite of my food, I was smitten. I had chosen scrambled eggs with breakfast potatoes (the little cubed ones), and they were topped with sausage gravy, cheddar cheese, and green onions. The gravy was a fantastic addition to the potatoes and eggs - savory and rich without being overly heavy, and it really brought the dish together. Yes, I am really commenting on complementary flavor and texture profiles in a review for Polly's Pies. I ate the whole bowl of this too.

All that for $7.99. Yum. I am really picky about breakfast because it's the one meal I can cook relatively well, and Polly's exceeded my expectations. I'll be happy to come down to Torrance for another taste!
