Classic Comfort Food – History of Mac N' Cheese
Macaroni and cheese has a long and tangled history, which this brief vide aims to unravel. It is believed that the Puritans actually brought the dish with them to North America, but the first macaroni and cheese recipe wasn't published until the late 1700s. The dish was always popular in the beginning, but it received a serious boost during WWII with the advent of rationing. Once the rationing was in full swing, a box of Kraft macaroni and cheese was only one ration ticket and therefore became enormously popular once again.
Today, macaroni and cheese is still a very popular comfort food dish, although most of us prefer when it doesn't come out of a box.
